Journey – Page 77

Yehoshua asks the Egyptian officer who is standing on the side of the road, leaning on one of the jeeps in the company of his soldiers, smoking peacefully.

EGYPTIAN OFFICER

From some kibbutz, we bring this statue to the children's corner at the Egyptian Army Museum in Cairo. I'm sure it will be an attraction there. Where are you from?

YEHOSHUA

We are from the Qatari army. I am a military attache of Qatar and my friend who is coming to us right now is the Cuban attache.

Eli gets out of the car and also approaches the standing group.

YEHOSHUA (a minute before Eli joins them)

Don't pay attention to him because he's crazy though soon he will offer you a cigar.

ELI

Adios Muchachos.

He calls to the Egyptian soldiers. The Egyptian officer follows him, amused by the strange marooner who appears in front of him, and sees Eli handing him a cigar that he pulls from deep within his shirt.

ELI

Castro y Cuba te otorgan este cigarro.

(Castro and Cuba give you the cigar)
