SLIDE:
FISH DINNER IN JASSER AL-ZARQA
WEDNESDAY 7:15
EXT. JASSER A-ZARQA – DAY
The two vehicles are stationary on the side of the road, near the settlement of Jasser al-Zarqa. Dina and the children stay in the car. Eli murmurs and caresses his belly.
ELI
Oh, how I hate fish. Messing with all these bones, it is impossible to give one decent bite, you constantly have to sift the bones from the meat.
He grimaces. It is after the fifth fish that he eats. The residents of the village, still standing since last night, open many barbecues along the coastal road where they grill fish in huge quantities for soldiers of the Arab armies who pass by the road. Eli and Yehoshua go over to bring fish and pitas to Dina, Liat and Itamar who remain seated in the Toyota pickup truck in the back. Eli turns to his wife.
ELI (in Spanish)
Eat, we don't know when we will eat again.
Yehoshua opens a conversation with the Israeli Arabs. From them it becomes clear that the fish were looted from the fish ponds of the kibbutzim next to Zichron Ya'akov.
