Journey – Page 74

YEHOSHUA

What is going on here?

Yehoshua asks one of the junior officers who is standing with two other of his friends.

JUNIOR OFFICER

We are transporting Israeli prisoners of war to the Gaza Strip, to the Ansar camps, where they will be interrogated and tried as war criminals.

Silence follows the officer's words. Behind Eli, a shout is suddenly heard from a Palestinian soldier who sees Eli's daughter, Liat, who got out of the vehicle and is handing out two bottles of water to the prisoners who are kept in cages. Though  Liat tries to do it stealthily, but she is observed by the soldier and he comes to complain to the officer.

YEHOSHUA (QUIETLY)

This is my daughter.

He looks the officer in the eye. Yehoshua immediately realizes that they are in serious trouble, to the point of their lives being in danger. If the officer checks, he will immediately see that Liat does not speak Arabic.

YEHOSHUA

This is a commandment from the Holy Koran to take care of the heretical captives.
