CHILD (pleading with tears)
Okay, Mom. But make sure it doesn't hurt me. (Brief silence) And then a story.
CUT TO
END FLASH BACK
INT. MORNING. INSIDE THE ALCOVE OF THE YOUNG PRIEST'S BATHROOM
(ZOOM IN) His attentive eyes unwaveringly meet his reflection in the mirror.
EXT. DAY. IN THE HOT AIR BALLOON OVER THE SNOWY MOUNTAIN PEAKS
Tom, Lara, and the priest are squeezed into a compartment of the hot air balloon. Above them stretches a large canopy, while a container of liquid substance is continuously ignited with a low flame. Periodically, the priest adjusts the flow of flammable liquid, causing the fire torch to grow and undulate under the canopy, lifting them higher and higher above the mountains and clouds.
TOM (now alert and composed)
I understand that you're a "supervisor" because of your purple jumpsuit.
THE YOUNG PRIEST
Yes, I am a supervisor, but also a priest in Professor Shain's temple.
TOM (uneasily)
As far as I know, the role of a supervisor is to "terminate" androids who have completed their tasks.
THE YOUNG PRIEST (smiling)
That's just one of our duties. It is a great honor to serve the android population.
TOM
Why do you eliminate the androids who have completed their tasks?
THE YOUNG PIEST (seriously)
They have fulfilled their purpose, and finding a new role for them would be difficult, if not impossible. There is no need to fill the world with beings for whom there is nothing to do but sustain them. Moreover, the new androids lack unnecessary memories. They are more obedient, while the old ones are already "broken," both physically and morally. Some even refuse to end their existence with dignity.
TOM (mockingly)
So, I guess you're "cleaning" them out of the way, huh?
