Lara – Page 41

END FLASH BACK

The trolley glides down the steep slope along the tracks, traversing an artificial groove carved into the mountainside, flanked by towering walls of rock, meticulously crafted by human hands. After a while, one side of the pathway opens up to a wild landscape, with an almost vertical rocky mountain wall on one side and trees and untamed vegetation characteristic of an oasis on the other side. As they reach the final stretch, the three individuals, drenched in sweat from the scorching desert sun, realize that they are headed towards a carved tunnel in the mountain. Just before the tunnel, dismantled tracks and piles of sand and stones obstruct any possibility of continuing the journey on the trolley.

TOM (sadly)

It seems we've reached the end of the road with the trolley.

Leroy stops the trolley just before the entrance of the tunnel, where the track ends. Tom sees something and jumps out of the flat trolley, disappearing among the rocks by the side of the track. He disappears among the green bushes growing wild. Within a minute, his cry is heard.

TOM

See what I found!

LEROY (in a deep voice)

We are coming, Tom.

EXT. NOON. IN THE SHADE OF THE DESERT OASIS

Leroy and Lara raise their pace and descend among the tall bushes and rocks until they unexpectedly discover Tom soaking in a small water pool a few dozen meters away, created by nature. Lara settles on a rock near the water, while Leroy stands there, pondering what to do.

TOM

Leroy, come into the water too. It's fantastic.

Leroy examines Tom's inflated blue jumpsuit billowing in the water around him. Tom now spreads out in the water, holding onto his jumpsuit and wringing it, a smile of happiness emerging on his face. Then he throws the crumpled jumpsuit onto a flat rock, scorching due to the sun. Lara leaps into the water as well, with a slight shriek, not before completely undressing and folding her sweaty orange jumpsuit neatly over the surface of the rock. She jumps into the water and dips her head under the water as well.

LEROY

Tom, I'm going to walk around the area. I want to see what's there in that tunnel. I'll be back soon.
