EXT. NIGHT. ALONG THE TRACKS
The trolley came to a stop. Night had already fallen. Leroy leaned against the side of the road after gathering some shrubs and a dry tree trunk. He lit a small fire, and Tom and Lara sat on the mattress in the trolley, their feet hanging in the air. The flame grew larger, and Leroy leaned closer to warm himself. Lara offered him some food and a drink in a cup. The light from the torch shimmered in Leroy's eyes. In the background, the soft moan of the rising wind could be heard. Suddenly, it became cold, and the small light failed to provide warmth for Tom and Lara. They covered themselves with blankets while Leroy curled up around the fire, continuously feeding it with twigs to keep it burning.
TOM
Leroy, what did the manager and Lara whisper about behind your back?
LARA (quickly responding)
She told me that you were her lover for almost two years
LEROY (sighing)
Yes, ever since I was created to serve as a warrior, the higher-level managers exploited me as a sexual object to fulfill their desires. My source suffered damage in an accident. But to hell with it! He was properly equipped.
TOM (sarcastically)
I never knew androids were concerned with their sexuality. I always thought they were assigned a role at birth and remained bound with it until their end.
LEROY
It seems you don't know enough, Tom. Androids are tasked with serving humanity, but, despite being clones, we have emotions, memories, and experiences. Some are incredibly painful, while others… (smiling) happen to be enjoyable.
Silence.
LEROY
You have no idea what it's like to be a breeding machine, fulfilling the desires of those above you. Enduring abuse, gossip, and crude jokes that are often degrading and cruel. (silence) And my dream? My dream was always to hold my own children in my hands, even though as an android, I'm forbidden from even thinking about it, and I know it's an impossible dream.
TOM (consoling him)
It seems that the dreams that bring solace to all of us are the small ones: holding a baby in your hands, meeting a beloved person, sometimes against all odds… Love seems to move the world.
Leroy notices Lara, who remains very quiet, and suddenly turns to Tom.
