Iris grimaces in a negative motion, but she doesn't get up. Instead, new tears burst out of her eyes.
IRIS
How many girls have you said that to already?
NATHAN
I'm alone today. I don't have “girls”.
A brief silence passes between them. Iris covers her face with her hands.
NATHAN (stubbornly)
Gosh, you admit I was your best lover, so why give up what you could? Reconnect with me. What do you have to cling to all this suffering, to loneliness?
A sudden weakness overwhelms Iris.
IRIS (almost in a whisper)
Take me home, okay?
Nathan gets up and helps Iris stand. He embraces her warmly, and she willingly reciprocates the hug.
