PERSONNEL MANAGER
Yoram, the company's management has decided to lay off a number of employees, and unfortunately, you are among them. I'm sorry.
YORAM (in disbelief)
But I'm one of your top-performing employees. I've been with the company for years!
PERSONNEL MANAGER
I understand, Yoram, and it pains me, but the decision was made by the company's management, and there's nothing I can do. I'm sorry. You'll receive everything you're entitled to.
Her round gaze lingers on Yoram's eyes.
EXT. NIGHT. UNDER YORAM'S HOUSE
Yoram arrives home late at night. The sounds of crickets fill the background, blending with the noises of the night. The stairwell light goes out once again. Yoram, covered in dust from the hardships of the day and exhausted, looks apprehensively from the street towards his apartment, as if expecting someone to be waiting there for him. After struggling with himself, he cautiously steps towards the entrance of the apartment building.
INT. NIGHT. KITCHEN
Yoram slumps heavily onto a chair in the kitchen. Iris appears in the doorway.
