MATI
Do you want to give her something?
YORAM (in a choked voice)
Tell her I still love her. I haven't forgotten her or the child.
He turns around, fumbling with his worn-out coat at the edge of the bed, and hands Mati a small package wrapped in old newspapers.
YORAM
And this… this is for her.
Mati takes the package from him.
MATI (softly)
Yoram, do you want anything else right now? Shall I bring you something to drink or eat? They told me you hadn't eaten or drunk anything.
YORAM
No, thank you.
Yoram curls up in the corner of the bed again, disconnecting from the short conversation. Mati stands up, looks at Yoram for a second or two, and then leaves the room. As he walks down the hall, the sound of his footsteps echoes in the surrounding silence.
