Prophet – Page 40

INT. DAY. THE DINING ROOM

The monochrome home TV camera scans the dining buffet in the kibbutz's dining room. It lingers on scraps of porridge, plates with vegetables, various cheese platters, and an already cold platter of omelettes.

HANAN (VOICE OVER)

The kibbutz and its houses are in a clean and orderly state. In our dining room, the food is still ready, and the coffee is hot. Anyone who wishes is welcome to come and enjoy. All records of the kibbutz's property and debts are on the table at the kibbutz secretariat. Take the kibbutz, it's yours. The lands we received from the state, the houses we received from the agency, the petting zoo, the children's rooms – everything is now returned to you.

EXT. AFTERNOON. BENCH ON THE AVENUE

The prophet sits down after a long and challenging day. Hershkovitz sits next to him on the bench. The prophet suddenly straightens up and approaches Itai who is displaying obvious signs of nervousness.

PROPHET

Don't you have a life? Why do you follow me around on the streets?

ITAI (defensive)

I'm just doing my job.
