VARDA
No, this is Varda, his wife. How are you?
LYDIA
Good, thank you. Can I get Reuven on the phone?
VARDA
No, he’s in the middle of long meetings, all day. But tell me what’s going on, I’ll pass on your message to him.
LYDIA
Two days ago I picked up a hitchhiker in the area towards Beer Sheva. His name is Akiva and he says he lives in one of the southern settlements. He’s an ultra-Orthodox guy who returned from the reserves on the Egyptian border. He’s unemployed and looking for work. I need him.
VARDA
I understand.
LYDIA
Today he came to visit us unexpectedly. He came up the driveway leading to the institute. I want to accept him on the team. I need to sign him confidentiality agreement, but first make sure his details and background are correct. If so, then sign him. He will work at the institute among the rest as a cook.
