Now I’ll show you how we actually work.
The light in the hall is dimmed. A video appears on the screen in which two people in hazard uniforms, oxygene cylinders on thier shoulders, ride a scooter along an electrical cable that runs through the hall, leading from one bookcase to the next. A cloud of bluish dust follows the back of the scooter. Lydia stops the film.
LYDIA
pay attention, the mountain is full of antimony, a naturally toxic substance. That’s why we wear hazard suits during our stay on the mountain.
AKIVA
So I understand that hazard uniforms are an integral part of the movement within the mountain queue.
LYDIA
Right. Now for the next stage.
The video restarts. The scooter arrives just before a large bookcase and stops. After a few minutes, the creature with its red glowing eyes appears. It is dressed in a dress (like in Dora’s Bible illustrations). Lydia stops the film again.
LYDIA
We discovered that there are creatures in the mountain whose job is to maintain this entire mighty enterprise. This is neither a demon nor an angel, but a black worker created solely for the purpose of maintaining the mountain.
Akiva looks hypnotized.
