Today, Mount Vesuvius erupted in full force. By evening hours, all of the Naples region was covered in volcanic ash. The city of Pompeii, which was erased by the previous eruption in 79 AD and rediscovered by an Italian farmer in 1748, only to be restored over many years, has been covered once again in boiling lava.
