The Institute 4 – Page 32

I got to a point where my health was ruined because of the secrets I kept inside all these years. “You have a malignant disease,” the doctor told me a few days ago. “And that’s exactly the price, of the secrets you’ve been hiding all your life.” (short pause) No, I’m not afraid. Either way I will die in the next few years. What will they do to me? What can they do to me? I am content with what I have achieved in my life. Now I am going to my beloved Lydia who is waiting for me in Be’er Sheva, to tell her about what the doctor told me and to cry with me.

Evening in the desert is fast approaching. The sky turns black. Yechiel descends from the hill on a path created over time, towards the institute. The shadows of the night overtake him as he reaches his electric car. He pulls out the cable that charges the car and gently places it in the electric charging station. He gets into the car and the barrier rises. Yechiel leaves the parking lot in his car. The car’s lights go out after a few minutes.

The lights of the institute are on, on the floor on the mountain and at the entrance to the ground floor.

ZOOM OUT

The image is getting further and further away as the lights on the top of the mountain are swallowed by the darkness that covers the desert like a blanket.
